When approaching the stone beach on the way down through the barren pine forest one ismet by a dull rumbling sound. As the rumble is growing the expectations for the few coveted waves increase. When the forest opens up and the ocean is exposed, a few surfers are found bobbing dressed in black wetsuits. Lingering like exotic migratory birds despite the fact that summer long ago left our northern latitudes.
The joy euphoria must have been complete when pioneers such as Henio Skaldin, Bingen and Jan Ekman found the site and started surfing at Torö in the 80’s and then proved that even Sweden is to be reckon with when it comes to surfing.
